How It Works

5 Days, 5 Guided Steps

On Monday, you’ll get curious and explore exactly what’s happening.

On Tuesday, you’ll generate new choices and question the limits of what seems possible.

On Wednesday, you’ll make space for the complexity and difficulty of the reality you’re facing.

On Thursday, you’ll own your fears and understand what is required to take action.

And on Friday, you’ll decide your tiny and important next step, give yourself permission and commit to an intentional way you’ll test it.

Forward Sprint is based on the 5 Cs of Transformational Leadership: 

Curiosity, Creativity, Compassion, Courage and Commitment.

The Daily Process

There are 4 daily steps that require about 2 hours of time. 

We’ve designed to be integrated into your already full schedule. 

You can come in and out of the Forward Sprint space as you have time during the day. 

  • (30 minutes) Daily Practice: A 1-2 page document that includes videos, questions and resources along with an assignment to apply to your own work and life 

  • (30 minutes) Respond: You’ll write a post about what you learned through the Daily Practice 

  • (30 minutes) Feedback: You’ll give other people feedback on their responses and you’ll get feedback on your response 

  • (30 minutes) Community Gathering: We’ll discuss the daily practice and the why behind them. You can attend live on Zoom and participate in the discussion or watch the recording on your own time.

If you’re looking for community and support, Forward Sprint will connect you and guide you.

  • Forward Sprint is a collaboration between Hella Social Impact and Akimbo and is based on the 5 Cs of Transformational Leadership. Forward Sprint offers both a live interactive experience where you can learn and practice the 5Cs in real-time and time to work asynchronously on your own. Forward Sprint brings together the very best of both Akimbo’s ability to create transformational learning communities and Hella’s ability to help leaders make a social impact through their work.

  • Forward Sprint uses Slack as its community platform. It starts each morning (US East Coast Time) with the release of a practice prompt and resources. Around midday we host a 30 minute live gathering on Zoom to discuss and connect key concepts and ideas. Then we close the day with a reflection activity. Throughout the day (and week), people are making posts and giving feedback to one another. Forward Sprint Slack channels are clearly titled so you know exactly where to go and what to do while you are with us.

  • Forward Sprint is designed to be completed in five days, mostly on your own time. We’ve designed it so you can integrate the work seamlessly into your day. We recommend having around two hours a day to participate in Forward Sprint.

    It’s designed to be asynchronous so you can participate on your own schedule at times that work for you, and from any time zone.

    Our live gathering time is optional, but we highly recommend you join if your schedule and time zone allow. Past participants have blocked the time off in their calendars at the start of the week to ensure they can join.

    To get the most out of the experience, expect to spend about 10-15 hours in total over five days. That’s a starting point, and you can still participate if you have less or more time.

    Think about it this way: you can make forward progress towards a goal that has had you stuck for months or even years–with a step-by-step action plan–in about 10-15 hours!

  • Yes! When you sign up you will be asked if you would like to be put into Zoom breakout rooms just for people who identify as BINBPOC.

    In order to join Forward Sprint, all participants must agree to abide by our community guidelines. We are leaders in the community-building and racial justice/social impact space, and we take that role very seriously.

    We strive to make the Forward Sprint a safe, inclusive space for everyone.
